Temasek Foundation partnered schools and charities to provide free meals to disadvantaged groups impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak, under three programmes.

Stay Prepared – COVID-19 Food Aid Programme

Temasek Foundation partnered Free Food For All and Willing Hearts to provide 270,000 meals to low-income individuals, elderly living alone in rental flats, non-ambulant individuals or persons with existing conditions such as arthritis and dementia. T-Touch, the staff volunteer arm of Temasek, also donated 60 tonnes of uncooked rice to Willing Hearts.

Potential beneficiaries were identified for enrollment into the meal programme by social service agencies, family service centres and religious organisations, and in consultation with the Agency for Integrated Care.

Stay Prepared – COVID-19 Meal Support for Students Programme

Temasek Foundation supported schools that remained open during the home-based learning period to help students who did not have adequate family support, and who required meal support. 30,000 meal vouchers, meal rations or pre-packed meals were provided for up to 750 students.

The schools involved in the programme included Assumption Pathway School, Crest Secondary School, Northlight School, Spectra Secondary School, as well as Metta School.

Stay Prepared – COVID-19 Hawker Food Delivery Programme

In a partnership with The Food Bank Singapore, Temasek Foundation provided 34,000 meals to vulnerable beneficiaries from May 2020. These meals were purchased from hawkers located in hawker centres across the island, so as to support those whose businesses had been adversely affected by the circuit breaker.

The meals were then delivered to families in need by unemployed or low-income workers looking to supplement their income, along with volunteers.
