Partner: Spectra Secondary School

Since 2014, Temasek Foundation Cares has partnered Spectra Secondary School to offer bursaries to students from low-income families to help them with education-related expenses so that they can attend school regularly. Since the start of the programme in 2014 to 2016, 350 students have benefited from the bursaries and 89% of recipients have achieved a school attendance rate of at least 80%.

For 2017 to 2018, 350 Spectra students in need are expected to benefit from the bursaries.

FY 2013-2014

Temasek Cares - Education Bursary Programme
Supporting students from lower-income families with education-related expenses
Partner: Spectra Secondary School

The education bursary programme provides financial support to students from financially-needy families to help them meet school-related expenses. The school estimates that nearly 50% of students need help with the cost of textbooks, uniforms, meals, transport to and from school, and course materials. The bursaries are given out in the form of vouchers, top-up cards, materials purchased by the school or as reimbursement against receipts for approved items.

The programme complements other financial assistance schemes by the government, grassroots organisations and voluntary welfare organisations. The 3-year programme expects to benefit 300 students.
