Temasek Cares – Academic Support Programme for Students with Learning Needs
Helping slower learners to level up academically
Partner: Spectra Secondary School
This programme supports students who are academically weaker or have learning needs, so that they are better able to access the school’s curriculum. Under the programme, Spectra Secondary School employs literacy and numeracy coaches as well as engages the services of an educational psychologist.
The literacy and numeracy coaches work closely with teachers and allied educators to identify students and develop individualised intervention plans for them. Intervention may take the form of in-class support or pull-out classes. The educational psychologist assesses and supports students with more severe and complex learning challenges. This programme, supported by Temasek Cares, is similar to those put in place in Crest Secondary School, Northlight School and Assumption Pathway School. The 3-year programme expects to benefit more than 150 students.
