Temasek Foundation Cares - Project Hand-In-Hand
Pilot programme to enable pre-schoolers from vulnerable homes to attend school regularly
Partner: Association for Early Childhood Educators Singapore (AECES)
Temasek Foundation Cares - Project Hand-in-Hand is a community self-help programme which engages active seniors to be mentors to disadvantaged preschool children. These children do not attend pre-school regularly due to various challenging family circumstances. As a result, they miss out on development opportunities during their critical early years.
The programme aims to enable pre-school children with poor attendance records to attend and benefit from pre-school education. It does this by engaging active seniors and equipping them to support vulnerable/ low-income families in the community via the service of bringing pre-school children to and fro school daily.
Under the programme, pre-schoolers from disadvantaged families also receive financial help for their education and health-related needs.
